‘SAD’ is a therapeutic, musically driven, theatrical experience by acclaimed theatre makers Brigitte Aphrodite & Quiet Boy’. Propelled by a deep connection and personal experience of grief.. Inspiration for the piece came when Gaz (Quiet Boy)’s beloved mum died. In the depth of this personal loss Gaz & Brigitte started to think about hibernation, light, cycles, grief and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression related to changes in seasons. Directed by Kirsty Housley ( The Long Goodbye, Tao of Glass, Encounter) ‘Sad’ is an exploration into how song, melody, poetry and music can drive a theatrical narrative without it being labelled as ‘musical theatre’ whilst working alongside experts in developing an understanding of how sound/music relates to the part of our brains that affect our chemical & hormone levels, alongside the use of SAD lamps, to make us feel more positive. ‘There is always beauty that can be found.. even in the darkest of places, but, only for as long as we can shine a light on it.’

Co- created with Brigitte Aphrodite piece of gig theatre which toured nationally for 3 years, critically acclaimed featuring in The Guardian, Elle, BBC 6 music, BBC 10’clock news and selling out Edinburgh Fringe, Southbank Centre, Roundhouse, Hackney Showroom, Wellcome Trust and other theatre’s around the UK.

Since 2005 I toured the UK extensively with the band ‘Louie’ and appeared at most major UK music festivals (Latitude, Download, Bestival, Leeds & Reading, Glastonbury, Kendal Calling, Wireless Festival..) Played by all major radio stations including live sessions with BBC Radio 2 Janice Long, BBC 6 music and XFM. Also recorded the punk album ‘Young Evil Souls’ with legendary producer Stephen Street.
Since 2015 I started composing for theatre as well as for my own work as a music artist. I do all of this under the name 'Quiet Boy'.
